Pew Research Center has released a very interesting interactive map. What intrigued me most was to see that the average divorce rate in the country hovers around 9-12%. I had imagined it to be much higher with all the talk of the "alarming" number of divorces happening nowadays...

I got married before the median Utah marriage age. *big sigh* I'm not helping those stats! And whats up with Arkansas, lots of cousins to marry or what?
ReplyDeleteI think you have to look more closely at the numbers. the 9-12% divorce number is the number of people currently divorced, meaning that they were married but currently are not because of divorce. However, the national divorce rate is commonly accepted as 50% meaning that over time 50% of marriages end in divorce.
